You should not receive Lip Blush if you have or have recently had:

  • Rashes around the lip area

  • Lip filler (4 weeks prior)

  • Any open scrapes/cuts on or around your lips

  • A cold sore outbreak

Pro-Tip: If you have dry/chapped lips the day of your appointment the pigment will not hold. We recommend gently exfoliating the day of your procedure (with a sugar scrub or any natural exfoliant) to avoid dry lips and pigment loss.

*COLD SORE INFO PLEASE READ*

If you suffer from or have ever experienced a cold sore (even once) it is necessary for you to take Valtrex, or another doctor recommended anti-viral, the day before your appointment, the day of your appointment, and at least 2 days after. This will help avoid a cold sore outbreak.

You should not receive Tooth Gems if you suffer from any of the following:

  • Severe, persistent, throbbing toothache that can radiate to the jawbone, neck or ear

  • Tooth decay/erosion

  • Gum disease

  • Gingivitis

  • Oral cancer

  • Sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures

  • Sensitivity to the pressure of chewing or biting

  • Swelling in your face or cheek

  • Tender, swollen lymph nodes under your jaw or in your neck

  • If you have not received a dental cleaning in the last year (your gem will not last as long)

  • Chipped/cracked tooth

  • Tartar buildup

  • Bleeding gums

You are welcome to receive a tooth gem if you have or experience any of the following:

  • Yellowing

  • Crowding

  • Gapped teeth

  • Crooked teeth

  • Braces (gems will be placed around)

  • Wire retainers (gems will be placed around)

  • Grinding/clenching

These factors increase your risk of a tooth abscess:

  • Poor dental hygiene. Not taking proper care of your teeth and gums - such as not brushing your teeth twice a day and not flossing - can increase your risk of tooth decay, gum disease, tooth abscess, and other dental and mouth complications.

  • A diet high in sugar. Frequently eating and drinking foods rich in sugar, such as sweets and sodas, can contribute to dental cavities and turn into a tooth abscess.

  • Dry mouth. Having a dry mouth can increase your risk of tooth decay.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Tooth gems of any kind can ONLY be placed on real teeth, no veneers or dentures. Retainers can also not fit over tooth gems. If you wear a wire retainer please inform your technician.

Tooth Gem Removal

Dharma Tattoo Collective does NOT offer tooth gem removals of any kind. Removing a gem or gems before they fall off naturally must be preformed by a dental professional, it’s the law!

If you experience any of these issues, please contact a dental professional before booking your appointment. An appointment is still not guaranteed.

Piercings & Cosmetic Tattoos

If you have considered getting a cosmetic tattoo in the same area as an existing facial piercing, the #1 factor to avoid infection is always to make sure your piercing is fully healed before any work can be done.

Eyebrow Piercing: If you are considering any eyebrow service and have an existing eyebrow piercing, please come to your appointment with your jewelry removed. Feel free to bring your curved barbell or ring and as we map out your brows you may shortly place the jewelry back in to see how it sits with your outline. After your tattoo, because body jewelry can harbor large amounts of bacteria, we ask that you wait until your tattoo is fully healed (7-10 days) before replacing your piercing. Sterilize your jewelry with alcohol before replacing it. This may require a professional to reinsert your jewelry depending on how long you’ve had your piercing.

Nose Piercing (or any surrounding area): If you are considering freckle tattoos with an existing nostril piercing or any piercing in that general area (high nostrils, bridge, septum), it is ok to leave in your jewelry for your appointment. Freckle tattoos will not be placed near any piercings. Large studs or hoop jewelry are also not an issue when tattooing freckles.

Lip Piercing: If you are considering Lip Blush and have an existing lip piercing it is ok to leave in your jewelry for your appointment AS LONG AS you have a stud in place as opposed to a ring or any jewelry that hangs over the lips. If you show up to your Lip Blush appointment with an interfering facial jewelry you will be asked to remove it before your appointment may begin.

NOTE: Dharma Tattoo Collective does not provide piercings of any kind
